Some Sin City images

Crit feedback

During the Crit I have been adviced to look back at my initial drawings of sin city and add something more dynimic to my design.

What is interesting in Sin city is the use of the black and white contrast which creates a comic book/noir effect. The use of others colors in some scenes like red, yellow and blue enhances the object which stands out from the black and white background(for example the eyes of one of the girl in the city or the red of the bed).

Also the way the camera moves is very dynamic; the characters of the story are not real, therefore they can make movements that in real life could not be possible.Could I introduce a camera movement in my design?

3D model animation first floor

Second animation of the journey from the first floor to the ground floor through the new blocks.

3D model animation

This is the first attempt of making an animation of my 3D proposal with 3D studio max. I just wanted to show the journey on the first floor, through the entrance and the space inside, but also i wanted to practice with the camera and get more confident with this tool.

3D model of proposal

On the first floor there are going to be two rooms that can be used to represent the reconstruction of an old cinema, or an editing room, or a projection room to make people how does it feels to work in a cinema environment. The two rooms are connected with a small glass corridor and people have to go through them to go back to the ground floor. In this they do not have to go back downstairs following the same journey, but they can go through different spaces and see different things.

The entrance to the galleries of the museum is going to look like the entrance of an old vintage cinema with the ticket counter and the old sign showing the name of the movie. This could be a good space to show the film board, the tickets machine and everything related to the entrance of the cinema and the presentations of movies.

This is a 3D model of my proposal. What I would like to achieve is making people experience the space in a different way. Indeed at the present stage it's only possible to visit the cinema museum following a path that goes from the small corridor downstairs to the big room upstairs, path that has to be done again to go back to the entrance. During my visit at the Imperial war museum I enjoyed the experience of going thourgh the gallery form the first floor and then get back to the ground floor through the reconstruction of a house during wartime in Britain. In this way the journey to access the space and the one to exit are different and this allows people to experience more things and see the space from different points of view.

Initial sketches and ideas

This is a sketch model that show my idea of creating a balcony/gallery on the first floor to allow people to go back to the ground floor through the other rooms placed in the middle.

what I would like to do is to remove the walls that now are dividing the space into small rooms and corridors and create an open space. On the second floor I could cut a hole on the floor and create a balcony that lead to a small glass passage to the new two block in the middle. I was also think about creating a study area and archives in the empty space outside at the back of the building.

These are just some sketches with initial ideas that I have done after the video survey of the imperial war museum. I was thinking about a way to make the journey inside the cinema museum more interesting and also to create a different path that people could follow to avoid having to go back to the ground floor going through the same corridors they did before, seeing things that they have already seen. Also I wanted to create spaces where there could be the reconstruction of an old cinema or the representation of a projection room or a set to make people feel like in a cinematic experience.
